In my case I have 500 GB hard drive with two partitions
- The Local Disk (C:) of 458 GB out of which 426 GB is free space
- The Local Disk (D:) of 7.33 GB out of which 7 GB is free space
- Open Computer Management Tool from the start menu>Then type "Computer Management" in search program and file, area.
- Run the Computer Management tool and select the "Disk Management option" from that.
- Right click on the (C:) drive and select the "Shrink Volume" option.
- It will query for the free space in the (C:) drive.
- Now it will open a small window named shrink C: in that window look at the third option "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" in that option type "102400" which means 100 GB, Note: 1 GB= 1024 MB.
- Then a new black space of 100 GB unallocated will get created. Right click on that space and select the "New Simple Volume" option.
- Then "Simple Volume Wizard" will appear click on "next" in that.
- Then again click on "next"
- Now select the drive letter. ( here I: by default )
- Now it will ask for formatting the disk in NTFS format and for the label of the disk you can change the label by whatever name you want or just click on "next" button.
- Then click on "finish".
- After clicking on finish button you will see that system has started formatting the 100 GB unallocated space like the picture below.
- When it will finish formatting you will get a new partition. check my computer.
